“Live life to the fullest” is such a cliché. Does anyone really know how to live life to the fullest? What does it take to finally say you’re living life to the fullest? It is human nature to want more, so when do we say it is the fullest? Ultimately, as Juliana Breines, Ph.D, social and health psychologist noted, “only you know the answer to what you truly want. So, figure that out and then make moves accordingly (and keep your overall happiness in mind.”

The Best Mom

With over 7.5 billion world population, there are a few who could say they are living the life they want. Most of us would even trade our lives for theirs. Who are these people? What do they do?

She is expert in the kitchen, and everybody’s asking about her recipes. She can make the whole house smell like fresh flowers and the floor sparklingly clean. She can make the backyard look like Garden of Eden, and every closet in the house look like a mall rack. Everything just seems so organized. Her children admire her, and her husband adores her. The Traveller

He bought a map, a marker, and traveled the world. He made new friends, tasted new cuisines, saw the wonders of nature, swam in pristine waters, and had a bonfire with the locals. This is the life that has been a trend nowadays, and it’s not really a surprise! Who wouldn’t want a life like this? Some people would leave their jobs, ride a plane and never look back. Would you?

The Business Tycoon

He had to climb the ladder of success. He wasn’t the most intelligent nor the most beautiful being on the planet. He just happened to be smarter and braver than everyone else. Mr. and Ms. Popular

They have beautiful faces and gorgeous bodies that everyone is talking about. The internet is full of them, and people just can’t get enough. They inspire people but sometimes way too much that some forget who they really are just to be like Mr. and Ms. Popular.

And then there are those who followed their passion. What do we call them?

All of us must be good at something. Some people continued and perfected their craft no matter what society dictates. They follow their passion and inspire people. They may not be the richest person in the world, but they are happy. According to Marianna Pogosyan Ph.D., “Most people have a list of wishes: things that they think will bring them to the doorstep of happiness once they have them finally in their grasp.”

What if someone followed his passion and became successful? He does what he’s good at and what makes him happy. He inspires people and makes a fortune. Does this count as living life to the fullest? Maybe, maybe not, but it could be close.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how we live our lives, or if it’s half-full, half-empty, or the fullest. Contentment is the key, which may be hard most of the time because we are humans, and it’s our nature not to have it. However, we decide living life to the fullest is up to us.

Living life to the fullest means finding happiness, and happiness in life is not measured by how good, how smart, or how popular you are. According to psychologist Daniel Gilbert, “Most people think that happiness is something we attain, like a possession, and that once we have it, we get to keep it.” In fact, happiness cannot be measured. It’s felt.
